I am guilty of getting sucked into flashy websites and spending time clicking their neat little buttons etc... But, rarely do I ever buy anything from these sites or actually read anything on these sites. Good product placement and call-to-action is primary to the sucess of any site, whether you are selling one product or ten thousand.

Formulate a six month, 1 year, and 5 year plan for your web business.

Making money is usually the goal for any business. This planning stage should be the time to decide not only how to create profits, but also how to eliminate time-consuming products and services. If something you sell is time consuming now, imagine if you multiplied it times its full potential to the entire world. This is usually a difficult process when starting out. I know at the launch of any of my sites, I was just happy to sell anything. But if your goal is to have a successful online business, and you are serious about this, the day will come when you wish you had never offered that 'widget" that takes 3 staff members and entire day to assemble.

This is not a theory. This is part of Business 101. Online advertising has as many schemes as any other business. Navigating these waters should be done with enthusiasm but also caution. I have tried email marketing lists that have cost thousands of dollars and have produced zero change in volume for my business. I have also tried internet advertising that has been very low cost and has produced amazing results.
